The following is a case study done by a waste transfer
station in a metropolitan market region. Actual operating
figures were used:
Based on moving the equivalent amount of material (tonnage):
-
Trucks dedicated for loads per day went from 9 to 6 to move
the same material.
-
Truck loads total per day went from 36 to 24 to move the
same material.
-
Average loads per month before the scale was 600-680 loads
underloaded.
-
Average loads per month after scale was 400-450 loads
properly loaded.
-
These numbers do not include overload ticket savings.
-
It also does not include savings on man hours spent topping
up loads and dumping off loads when trucks had previously
been incorrectly loaded.
-
The customer explains “It’s hard for us to put a dollar
value on man hours spent on the above topic coupled to the
new convenience & increased productivity.”
-
Average savings first month was $6,000. (during
operator training & scale familiarization period)
Average monthly savings are now currently $8,000 to $10,000.
(depending on amount of material on the floor)
This adds up to over $ 80,000 savings per year!
